Ms. Irene Wing Sze CHEUNG
Clinical Psychologist
Ms. Irene Cheung started working as a clinical psychologist since 2000. She spent most of her practice working with children and adolescents.
After graduation, she joined the Child Assessment Service of Department of Health and provided assessment and treatment for children with different developmental needs, such as, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental delay, Specific Learning Difficulties, as well as other emotional and behavioural problems.
She then joined the Hospital Authority and worked in the Yaumatei Child Psychiatric Centre of Kwai Chung Hospital, serving children and adolescents with mental health issues, including anxiety, anger management, low mood, social difficulties, school refusal problems, etc.
Apart from working with children and adolescents, Ms. Cheung also supports caregivers and offers advice for effective parenting, with a view to promote healthy development of children and adolescents.
Since 2009, Ms. Cheung has been practicing mindfulness and learning to connect better with self. She also applies mindfulness practice in her clinical work, in the hope that people around her can lead a happy and peaceful life. She has completed the ‘Advanced Teacher Training in Mindfulness for Youth with ADHD and ASD, and their Parents’ (MYmind) and ‘Advanced Teacher Training in Mindful Parenting’, both by Prof. Susan Bogels (The University of Amsterdam). She has completed the one-year ‘Foundation training in teaching Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy’ (MBCT), jointly organized by Oxford Mindfulness Centre and The Hong Kong Mindfulness Centre.
